Survival of the Fittest

On the 16th of March Wild Card (creators of Ark Survival Evolved) released the Standalone version of their highly competitive game mode Survival of the Fittest and we here at the Band-of-Misfits have been having a blast with it.

The game mode itself is a "battle royale" of sorts, all players descend from the sky down onto a giant circular "middle platform". Once making land fall you can choose to risk running to the center of the platform where random loot boxes spawn. Very useful starting gear can be found there but it usually dissolves into a meat grinder of people just trying to get early game kills. More conservative players usually choose a safer start by just immediately jumping off the middle and running for the cover of the forest to level up.

General game strats usually center around taming, teching up to build guns and strong armor, or a combination of the two. About every 10 minutes a "Evolution event" occurs which can change the dynamic of the game to keep people on their toes. Such events can be extreme heat or cold on the map, forcing you to seek out water or fire respectively. ARKtic Monkeys event spawns tiny monkeys at the players that will harass them, however the monkeys wear Chitin Armor Helmets, which if you manage to fight them off you can take and will give you a Upper hand. Theres even an chance for a random event where dinosaurs fall on you from the sky, could be benign herbivores, or very dangerous carnivores. There is a bevy of diffferent possible events that always keep it interesting.
Ark: Sruvival of the Fittest is alot of fun and Free to play. If you like a fast paced game, with alot of action, and always something different, then I highly recommend you check this out.e

The Division - Week Two

Here we are almost a full 2 weeks into Tom Clancy's The Division. Having launched March 8th, it has proven to be an incredibly fun and addictive massively multiplayer online gaming experience. The BoM crew has been playing since closed Beta and we have not been disappointed in the full release of the game. Most of us have progressed to full level 30 (normal level cap) and are decked out in all High-End gear from running Challenge Modes for the covetted Pheonix Credits (the current endgame gear currency).

We have braved the dangers of the Dark Zone, the unforgiving PvP area of the map, which has its own set of levels, maxing out at 99. You can get experience by clearing the hostile AI that roam the streets. Stronger "named" AI can be found at Landmarks and have a chance to drop useful gear. You can also find the valuable DZ Crates, which require the elusive DZ Keys to open, and inside a chance for High End gear can be found. All gear found here though must be "extracted" via helicopter, and the Signal flare used to signal the heli can draw unwanted attention. Active extractions can be seen on the map by everyone, even Rogue Agents. Rogues are basically bandits, and kill people to steal points, keys, and gear. It can be intense in the DZ but its also alot of fun.

And now we have something to look even more forward too. The Incursion: Falcon Lost. What will it be? Well according to those who seem to know, Incursions are group based "mini-raid" type instances with a certain theme or mechanic based boss or battle involved. What is Falcon Lost? From what we know it is going to underground, it is in the Stuyvesant zone, it will required a Gear Score of 150, and reward the player with a guaranteed purple "Geat Set" piece. What is a Gear Set? It is a piece of gear that works with other pieces of gear to give a cumulative bonus. When does it come out? No one really knows exactly but it should be soon. This is exciting new territory and we cannout wait to have some fun with the new stuff coming to the Division. Stop by our message board or Teamspeak and join us!
